I started getting the “Unable to create directory /wp-content/uploads/2013/12. Is its parent directory writable by the server?” error when i decided to move my wordpress blog to the root, As a result of this plugin :
I was not able to install any plugin, without this error ” Unable to create directory /wp-content/uploads/2013/xx. Is its parent directory writable by the server ”
After much search i merged up the ideas to solve my problem, I also discover that the problem was common with those that once upgrade to wordpress version 2.7 from earlier versions.
uploading or inserting image into a WordPress post just after upgrading to WordPress 2.7.
- Log into your WordPress Admin account.
- Go to ‘Miscellaneous’ Settings options from the ‘Settings’ menu.
- In the Miscellaneous Settings put wp-content/uploads in the “Store uploads in this folder” text box.
- Save the Changes by hitting the “Save Changes” button and you are done.
The solution now for the wordpress 3 + users is almost the same but the steps has changed, wordpress 3 plus those not have miscellaneous option in the settings so you need to visit media rather, still under the settings category and restore whatsoever is there to the default ;
If you have made any changes to the installation folder, you can also correct it to reflect the path, otherwise changing the file permission as suggested will not work, for me I simply had to restore it to the default ” wp-content/uploads ” folder and that worked for me.
