Yesterday evening while moderating comments on this blog, I decided to try out Wp-SuperCache to see if it could give my blog a boost in speed as I wasn’t quite loving my current cache plug-in.
After installation, I contacted Hostgator to make sure their shared servers support Wp-SuperCache and the guy who handled my ticket confirmed that the plug-in works well with Hostgator blogs.
He was even kind enough (AS USUAL) to configure it for me and so guys if you’re interested in using Wp-SuperCache on your blog, below is a capture of the settings that will ensure your blog runs smoothly on Hostgator shared servers

Do please remember that all other settings MUST be left UNTOUCHED otherwise you’ll be creating problems for yourself and the guys @ Hostgator. You only need to edit the first part of the settings page as shown in the capture above.
I hope this helps you all make your Hostgator Hosted Blogs to run Faster Than Ever!

WP-Super Cache has its draw-backs. Stats counters for one, would no longer be as accurate.
Which stat counters are you referring to? Do remember that it doesn’t cache JavaScript which is what most stat counters are based on.
Super cache was causing an error on my blog for some reason and I had to resort to the old WP-Cache which still works fine.
I think it’s great when tech guys go out of their way to help. It doesn’t always happen that way.
It works just fine on my blog (@ least I haven’t noticed any shady behaviors yet
).
I was just telling Mitch that his problem with MySQL database etc wouldn’t have happened to me cos the tech guys @ Gator are ever willing to help.
Yeah, I found my hosts to be really helpful when needed, not like the ones I have on another host.
As to Mitch, I’m surprised they were still using the old MySQL?
Makes you wonder whether they aren’t ready to move with the trends as other hosts are.
WP Super Cache does not work well with post counter plugins. Example:
It works fine with the WP-Postviews plug-in on this blog. For you to know if it works on cached pages or not. Log out of your admin area and open a cached blog post. While viewing the page source, check for and @ the beginning of the page and / at the end of the cached page. I believe the presence of both codes together shows the plug-in works even on cached pages
Besides, I’ve been tracking clicks on this post and the post-view plug-in has been accurate with the number of views.
This has indeed been very helpful! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for this – my main blog is a bit slow loading and I have been wondering about using this plugin – as I am with hostgator you have now taken the risk out of for me Thanks – and hope you had a good new year in Africa

So good to know I just helped out a Gator customer. If Gzip compression was enabled on shared hosting, believe me you, it would have been 5 times faster.
P.S: New year in Africa wasn’t bad @ all. We all are just praying for a miracle so our dumb leaders can do something about our present sad condition.
Three months ago i was using WP Super Cache because i read a review such as yours, then i try to upload and activated it. I found errors, always errors. That’s it, I’m sick of this issue. In order to stop this issue, i think i have to find another Cache plugin that more easy setup and powerful enough to my site.
Then i search and find DB Cache Reloaded, i download it and setup the plugin and the result is very surprised me. Very fast loaded, and one week after i setup the plugin i received a massage from a friend that he said he also used DB Cache Reloaded but he never upload that plugin before but after he investigate it he found that DB Cache Reloaded Plugin was uploaded by Hostgator Admin because his blog was reach 50K visitors/Day. and i have no doubt for DB Cache plugin anymore that’s why i still love to use DB cahce reloaded Plugin than WP super cache. about GZip Compression, i setup manually and yes it also really helpful for my site.

I’ve heard good things about DB Cache Reloaded but it seems it only works on the database. I’m now using W3 Total Cache which does wonders for my blog
