Posted by Udegbunam Chukwudi on March - 29 - 2010
Ever wondered when exactly your blog posts were indexed by Google? Well it so happens that during my research on dealing with content scrapers, I stumbled upon this short but wonderful list @ the wordpress site. It talks all about how to Prevent Content Theft.
In one of the tips outlined there, I discovered this ingenious way of knowing exactly when your blog posts are available via the SERPs
.
WHEN DID GOOGLE INDEX MY BLOG POSTS

It’s all about Google Alerts guys. Simple no?
According to their FAQ Sheet: Google Alerts are emails automatically sent to you when there are new Google results for your search terms. You can also choose to have your alerts delivered via feed to the feedreader of your choice (e.g., Google Reader or add the feed to your iGoogle page).
Setting up some Google alerts is quite easy breezy.
How To Setup A Google Alerts Campaign
Simply fill in the topic you want to monitor @ the front page and click on Create alerts. You’ll be needing a Gmail account to be able to use the service.
Below is a capture of my principal campaign.

Using the Comprehensive option under Type and As-It-Happens under How often, you’ll be sure to get an email notification as soon as your "topic" shows up in Google’s News, Blogs and Web searches.
Here’s an email notification, I received as soon as my blog post appeared in the search engine:

Okay
There is an precise way to do that.
Go to Google, and type site:theurlofyourpage. If it returns something, it’s indexed, if not, try again later.
To be alerted when it will happen, you can use page monitor on chrome or update scanner on firefox. They will monitor the google page, and tell you when something changes, like if it becomes indexed.
Thanks for the tip bro. This might probably make me go back to using Firefox
IMHO, chrome is slightly better for this, but Firefox also does the trick
I have been using Google Alerts for years, mainly to help find content scrapers. I also Google Alerts it when a new link to blog is indexed.
