This Just In: Wordpress 2.8.1 Is Obsolete!

Posted by Udegbunam Chukwudi On July - 26 Under Announcements 2 COMMENTS

As always the makers of Wordpress are so in the habit of releasing updates when I’ve just updated my blog to the “latest’ version. Now Wordpress 2.8.2 is out within a lil more than 2 weeks of the release of Wordpress 2.8.1.

Wordpress 2.8.2 supposedly fixes an XSS vulnerability in which comment author URLs were not fully sanitized when displayed in the admin. This security hole could easily be exploited to redirect the site admin away from the admin page to another site.

Since it’s a security update, I’ll be updating mine as soon as possible. Go update yours too while the security of your blog is yet to be breached.

Curious as to how to upgrade your wordpress blog? Check out my guide The Safest Way Of Upgrading All Wordpress Blogs.

They do churn out the updates quickly. I stopped trying a long time ago to keep up and only update once in awhile when I have some spare time.

    • @Tracy: The only reason I always update at once is cause of my OCPD. My mind would never be at rest until the upgrade is done. I've devised a way of getting it done in 20-30 minutes and will be posting a tutorial about that as soon as I can find time.
      Have a nice day.
