Free Blogging Software: Windows Live Writer
Hey guys, just wanted to share another time and money saving blogging tip.
I’m one of the many people out there who’s yet to get an internet connection of my own and so I spend quite a lot of my time surfing at cybercafés in other to carry out my online business and promotion.
Before every trip to the cybercafé, I always make out a comprehensive list of things I hope to achieve before my time on the system is up and so I rely on some softwares to help increase my productivity and speed up my tasks.
One software that really makes my job as a blogger quite easy is Windows Live Writer 2009. With so many paid blogging softwares out there, Windows Live Writer as we know it, is the internet marketer on a shoestring budget’s best friend.
This software on running for the first time after installation, requires your filling out details of your blog after which it downloads the vital settings & current theme of your blog to your computer. These downloaded settings include font sizes, font colors, categories, pings, authors etc. Unlike most softwares, it has an offline preview function which allows you to see how your post would look like before your post it to the internet.
Here’s a summary of what I do with this amazing software.
- I open up the program and proceed to give life to the many ideas I’ve got for posts that would be of interest to my readers.
- I do my best to include my keyword or tag in the title of my post. Afterwards I choose a category for my post or create a new one, choose an author, specify if I want to accept comments on my post and if I want certain sites to be pinged as soon as I publish my post and then I also set a publishing date (This is very important as I can specify that I want the posts to appear on my blog at certain dates and not at once. For example I always go for a 2-3 day gap between posts which allows for a healthy 2 – 3 posts a week.
- I strive to write as many as 5 articles at a go and then I go through the same process as above with them all, save them and then make my way to the cybercafé and post them all. In less than 5 minutes, I’m done blogging with loads of time to face other pressing matters.
NOTE: I blog with the hosted version of Word Press 2.7.1 so I really can’t tell which of these features would be available if you’re using Blogger, Typepad and all the other blogging solutions around.
