I took a bold step @ achieving my dreams of becoming a singer/songwriter last Tuesday and auditioned for Nigeria’s Star Quest 2010. I did a song of mine and was asked to do another, so I did the bridge of Beyonce’s If I Was A Boy. Unfortunately that wasn’t enough for the judges. They asked me to sing yet another song this time by a Nigerian artiste and there and then singer’s block set it in. LMAO.
I can’t sing any Nigerian song even if my life depended on it. I tried TuFace Idibia’s African Queen and had to stop 10 seconds into the song cos I just sounded STUPID. I simply couldn’t fake it and the crowd burst out laughing. That moment was priceless
!
End of story, I was told Star Quest 2010 was a NIGERIAN talent show and that I needed to sound NIGERIAN!
That’s one feat that I know I might NEVER be able to achieve cos none of the few vocalists in Nigeria has what it takes to make me actually want to go the extra mile to learn his/her style. Besides I’m so OBSESSED with Mariah and Christina as they are the ones after whom I’ve chiseled certain facets of my voice.
I guess that means I’m back to life as a grumpy Medical Doctor until the Big Guy upstairs says, IT’S YOUR TIME TO BE A STAR! lol
Back to the world of blogging as we know it, here are this week’s top blog posts. Enjoy!

Thanks for the post links. Will be checking out one or two of them.
In regards to the talent show, it wasn’t for you – just means you’re a step closer to WORLD DOMINATION. Mariah and Christina will be asking YOU for your autograph.

ROFLMAO. I should be the one on my knees BEGGING for their autographs cos they are the “BESTEST” of them all. LOL.
I’d have to consult Pinky and The Brain for a good strategy on World Domination. LMAO
Where’s your pride, man? It is an abomination for any Igbo person to beg for autographs (it’ll turn your left eye into the shape of a wornout doormat that doesn’t even recognise its owner’s house slippers.)
No. Let Christina and Mariah come to you. Every night, sing the theme tune for “Pinky and the Brain-Brain-Brain-Brain” seven times before you go to bed. After that, WORLD DOMINATION will surely be yours.

Chei! As if I knew you. You must be a hardcore Igbo girl. All this “concentrated” proverbs my folks are fond of using. ROFLMAO!
I finally saw your real name on one of your blog posts, Aunty Ebele. lol
World Domination here we come
Dear Mr Udegbunam Aguilera,
Me? Hardcore? You must say that to all the girls
Yours sincerely,
Aunty E.

LOL. Wetin carry your mind go that side? Take am easy oh! Aunty E I meant hardcore as in Intensely loyal or die-hard.
nice one with the audition. yet I still wonder how come a Medical doctor has so much interest with the internet biz world. almost as if you’re ready to jettison medicine for a career in ICT.
Music was the PRIMARY reason I developed interest in the world of making money online. I badly wanted to go to a music school in London (Vocal-Tech UK) but my parents weren’t willing to sponsor me as they’d rather “waste” their money on my becoming a full fledged Medical Doctor. Thus when I came across news of folks making dough online, I felt I could make enough to set off the cost of music school tuition but alas making the dollars have been elusive. LOL
I can rightly say I was emotionally blackmailed into the whole medicine thing and as the years go by, the cramming sessions are finally taking their toll on me and as each time I take a break from work as a doctor, I have to do some serious “rebooting” to refresh my memory when I’m getting back on the job. LOL. I can’t really complain anyway as it’s (being a doctor) is helping pay the bills for now
Anyway, I continue to pursue my dreams of earning a living singing. Thanks for stopping by.
Calm down, Dr Aguilera. I’m just pulling your leg

was trying to add your blog to my list on bloglines but kept getting: “No feeds were found. Please verify that the website publishes an RSS feed”. what’s up with that?
ok apparently you’re at http://feeds.feedburner.com/StrictlyOnlineBiz . yet wonder why bloglines couldn’t decipher that. P/S: what’s the “exclusively giving your feed rights to feedburner”? (hope that made sense)
.-= Trae_z hopes you will read…A rush of blood to the head =-.
My feeds are exclusively delivered by Feedburner as I like to track the number of readers I have @ the moment. It also helps in tracking/monitoring tracking to my site coming from clicks made in the feeds
Who knows? Maybe Bloglines has got issues with Google’s FeedBurner. lol
Guy I just discovered the REAL problem behind Bloglines not recognizing my feed. The link to my feed was messed up after my last theme update. I’ve fixed it now. Thanks a million man
I also think you should put your feed link somewhere as well as an email address (even if it’s not your main one) that readers can reach you on in case they need to talk privately with you.
My feed link and email subscription has been strategically located below each and every post on my blog. With regards to the email issue, I think the contact form @ the top of the blog solves the issue.
Thanks for the tips.
I won’t even sing at home alone. I’m so terrible “I” don’t even want to hear it. I hate it that I sound like Christina Aguilera when I sing in my head but when real words come out I’m worse than William Hung
Nice post – lots of great tips, thanks for sharing.

I sound like Christina Aguilera when I sing in my head but when real words come out I’m worse than William Hung. ROFLMAO.
Don’t be too hard on yourself. You might even be better than you give yourself credit. It took me a while to find my own vocal identity and I think I’m finally there as I struggled in the beginning to sound like Mariah & Xtina but gave it up after I read that full time copycats aren’t that interesting to listen too
.
Thanks for droppin in and keep singing. You ain’t disturbing no one in the comfort of your home
