Bloggers Stress-Illness & Blog Posts Of The Week 22

My battle  with what I have always thought was Sir Malaria/Typhoid Fever continues. Mum scolded me and ordered me to do a complete blood work. She was right anyway. We doctors are fond of asking patients to do a complete blood work BUT when it comes to our own health, we sometimes can be negligent :-( .

Test results came out and all were Negative including HIV (Thank God ;-) ) and Malaria/Typhoid (WTF. Something must be wrong somewhere. It’s not normal to have a malaria free blood stream in this part of the world).

Woke up yesterday morning, feeling unwell. My senior colleague takes my BP and it’s a 120/90mmHg. Now he’s placed me on Lexotan and a different kind of anti-malaria drug. He says I might be stressed out and he might be right though I pray he ain’t ’cause that would mean giving this blog a breather.

Wednesday’s blog post, How To Show Adsense To Search Engine Visitors Only Using JavaScript gave rise to an attack by trackback spammers (Over 30 spammy trackbacks) and Hostgator spat another resource alert. Now I’m left wondering if the attack by the spammers, Akismet or WP-Spam Free is to blame. I decided to deactivate trackbacks and pingbacks. Let’s see what happens.

The debate on using nofollow on internal links continues as Google’s Matt Cutts Says Again, Don’t Use Nofollow For Internal Links. Some folks strongly believe that using nofollow on pages such as the contact, privacy and disclosure pages is the way to go. I’m sticking with what Matt says as he’s one of Google’s boys ;-) .

Gagan Of Creative Blogging Idea was issued a warning by Dream Host ’cause he was exceeding CPU usage limits. They even went as far as upgrading him without notifying him and thus he started a series tagged Internet Fraud. Check out the first post of the series: Unlimited Hosting Truth : Internet Fraud Series Part 1.

While the blogosphere is so obsessed with guest posting (It really doesn’t work for me so I ain’t stressing myself with it), Ann Smarty gives a few reasons Why Guest Blogging is Useless for Link Building.

Wow! So u r a doctor too! Same here. Small world. Are you practising? Or just doing online biz alone?
I am at work now though. Will check out the sites once I get home. Your site has been so helpful to me since I stumbled upon it! Was able to use my websurfer to pay for my domain name instead of giving the guy that wanted to renew it for me 5k! All thanks to your site. And many other thing too. Anyway would come and check these sites in the evening.

    • I’m one of those doctors “by force”. lol. I’m still practicing. I’m currently serving obodo Nigeria (NYSC). This your comment really put a smile on my face. To think that I just saved someone 5,000 naira. 5K to renew a domain name? Some folks are just out to make millions off JJCs and that’s so not cool @ all :-( .

I’m happy you’re learning from my blog. Cheers and have a great day @ work ;-)

    • The weather is pretty nice these days but it comes with a price: HUGE, HEFTY RAIN-LOVING MOSQUITOES. lol
I hope you recover soon too. It’s so next to impossible to run a blog when one is ill.

  5. Ebele says:

Oh dear. Ndo, inugo? I’m sending you a telepathic anti-malarial prescription of Ebeletan. Take one a day as it’s very powerful. You’ll be up and about in no time :-)

    • This your Ebeletan prescription sounds so Made in Onitsha. ROFLMAO. I go try find am for market. Thanks anyway. I’m feeling much better though the dizziness still comes on occasion. I just hope it doesn’t turn out to be something serious in the nearest future.

  6. Ebele says:

Glad you’re feeling better. We can’t have you being sick. That’s so 2009.

(p.s.: it won’t be something serious in the future)
