NYSC Glorifed Enslavement & Blog Posts Of The Week 12
Posted by Udegbunam Chukwudi on May - 21 - 2010
Quite a lot has happened this week and my stress levels are peaking OUTRAGEOUSLY! Sometimes I feel like cursing the fellow who brought up the idea of NYSC (National Youth Service Corps) as it’s just yet another version of SLAVERY amongst the blacks.
I’ve been working free of charge for 2 months now without pay only to hear that I might not be paid till the 3rd month and when I threaten to stop coming to work if my due wages aren’t paid, the P.R.O of the hospital makes it known to me; in a subtle manner, that he runs the show and can F**K me up anytime he pleases.
To make matters worse, my fellow corps members, who have not been paid as well, KEPT QUIET in their majority, leaving me to play the bad guy instead of us all rising in one voice to give them a taste of their BULLSH**ING!
One thing I’ve learned from this experience, is to strive as much as possible NEVER to work for the government of Nigeria as they can be so FULL OF CR*P. Also day in day out, we scream that things are getting harder in the country BUT it’s still those of us doing the screaming that are making things a lot harder. Nigeria, a nation where people cared about their neighbors, is now becoming an "EVERY MAN FOR HIMSELF" nation! So help us God!
Anyway, I just pray that I don’t end up HYPERTENSIVE after this year of "glorified enslavement to the nation" is over!
The stress (work and blog modifications/promotion etc) has been so much that, I barely updated and went through my rss reader thus I’ve only got 3 top blog posts for this week.
We all say and know that, wherever on earth one goes, CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS KING but after reading Andrew Rondeau’s The Funny Side of Customer Service, I’m of of the opinion that some CUSTOMERS ARE JUST PLAIN STUPID TO A FAULT!
If you’re seriously considering increasing your CTR (Click Through Rate) in the SERPs, it’s about time you considered stripping your blog posts date stamp from Google’s search results description as Ajith Prasad suggests. I went for the third option (removing blog post dates completely) but had to revert back after Social Spark refused to approve one of my sponsored posts because it wasn’t dated. I’m currently using the client side logic JavaScript method and it works just fine
.
As I continue with my backlink creation efforts, I’ve stumbled on a way to show nofollow links in Opera web browser. Avinash of Techyard shares How To Highlight nofollow Links In Firefox and Opera.
That’s all for now folks. Hopefully next week will be better ![]()

Hey, brother, who is giving you stress? You’re suppose to be enjoying the youth service not enduring it. For all I know, it was a noble idea in the beginning but like any other policy in Naija, those responsible for making it work are far from being efficient. I did enjoyed my days of NYSC though.
I wish you well. Cheers.

It’s my superiors at work oh! To make matters a lot worse, I’m been paid 17k a month while my colleagues in the same hospital are earning 55k a month for working the same number of hours. I’ve been complaining for over a month and the guys who can fix things sharp sharp are acting dumb.
Maybe when I start coming to work at whatever time I please, they will hear my call.
