Blog Setup Business Meeting & Blog Post Of The Week 23

Posted by Udegbunam Chukwudi on August - 13 - 2010

Over the weekend, I had a lil’ business meeting with one of Nigeria’s young entrepreneur, Ahmad Mukoshy about the possibility of a collaboration between EzBlogSetup and Aimtech Nigeria Hosting. The meeting ended on a good note with the terms that EzBlogSetup’s services will be included to Aimtech Nigeria’s shopping cart as an add-on service @ a discount of 25%.

What this means is that folks ordering hosting from Aimtech Nigeria have the option of hiring the services of EzBlogSetup for 25% less than the normal selling price of $30 (N4,000).

NOTE: The Aimtech Nigeria Hosting + EzBlogSetup offer is open to Nigerians ONLY for now!

In the mean time, EzBlogSetup was given a facelift design wise and is now open to International customers as well, thus the reason why the ad banners around the net now are showing the dollar value of the service which is $30 ;-) .

When I launched StrictlyOnlineBiz back in February 2009, I signed up for a 2CheckOut merchant account for a one time fee of $49 but I never got to use it as I wasn’t successful in coming up with a proper product to sell. By default, 2CheckOut only allows one URL per account and any change to the URL costs $19.

In my case, probably because I haven’t made a sale on the account, 2CheckOut waived the $19 fee and changed my URL for FREE so I can now accept Credit Card/PayPal payments @ EzBlogSetup ;-) .

A big thank you to the guys @ 2CheckOut for been so understanding ;-) .

Here’s another reminder. The Free Blog Setup Services For Five offer is still on. Please kindly assist me in spreading the word via retweets, emails etc. I’d TOTALLY appreciate the gesture ;-) .

Someone contacted me over the weekend with a question I was so not expecting @ all. "What is WordPress?". I did the best I could to explain that it was just another platform for blogging or creating websites. Seriously I couldn’t even explain what wordpress really is so I suggested she read the following for some lil’ understanding.

If someone were to ask you this same question "What is WordPress?", what would your response be?

In the coming weeks, it seems adsense ads are to get some serious revamping that promises to increase CTR supposedly. Read [Inside AdSense] A new look for AdSense for content ad units. The rectangle formats (728 x 60 and 336 x 280) are amongst the ad formats that will be getting the treatment.

I’m out. Works starts in about 15 minutes. Have a pleasant weekend ;-) .

If I were asked the word press question right now, I guess I would say:

WordPress is another blogging platform just like blogger but harder to use! However its much better for SEO than blogger.

On the other hand, I am really looking forward to the new adsense ad formats, hope its pays better and increases CTR.
My feedburner stats is quite high, but I realsie its only less than one quarter of those who subcribe initially that get to click the confirmation link in their inbox, so a lot of them are not reached.

    • LOL. No be lie. WordPress can be quite technical but once you get the hang of it, it’s amazing ;-) . My email subscriber account is also experiencing the same thing as only half of those who subscribe actually confirm their subscription. Maybe folks are just tired of getting emails ;-) .

Thanks for being one of my subscribers ;-)

You think WordPress is better for SEO than blogger? I’ve heard the opposite. WordPress soesn’t really like SEO that much…
Also I think that wordpress looks more professional.

  3. jumoke says:

Actually I heard wordpress has great plugins that are good for SEO. I dunno how true that is. When I was worried about the low traffic on my site I was advised to switch to wordpress.

    • As far as I know wordpress has nothing to do with traffic unless the person was trying to say that wordpress has better seo which in turn could get your better search engine ranking and traffic ;-)

By the way I have a question oh. If I want to use wordpress it means I have to pay for hosting abi? What’s d average yearly price for hosting?

By the way, this morning I felt like resigning my job and going fully into online Biz! Lol. Crazy thoughts.

    • Yep! You’d have to pay for hosting to use wordpress and it could cost as much as $90 a year depending on who you want to host with.
I’ve had those thoughts before but had to shove them aside. Maybe when I start making more money online than I get paid @ work, I’ll consider ditching Medicine. lol

  5. Super thanks for another special mention man! I was able to read this post the other day, though I was too drunk to leave a comment LOL. But I was really compelled and felt real good, knowing that there are some who really believes in what I have to say.

I guess going global with your blog setup business is the best route to take as early as now, it will do expand your reach (and more possibilities and enhancements in the future for sure) and with what you are offering, $30 for a full proof blog is something your competition should be afraid of.

By the way, cool “tweet” button, it’s my first time seeing that and I think it’s better than tweetmeme and tweet this.

    Regards,
    Jason

    • It’s really not a matter of believing what you have say but how believable what you say is. At this point of my life online, I can 80% tell when someone is talking sense or plain rubbish and your articles make SENSE to me ;-) .

I had to go global with EzBlogSetup after someone asked me that question about wordpress. It’s as though the Nigerian community is pretty comfortable with Blogspot which is why reports like LatestNigerianJobs Releases Guide To Blogger Blogs are a HIT with Nigerians. Thanks for the retweets man ;-)

The Tweet button is Twitter’s official retweet button. Who knows? Tweetmeme might be shutting down sooner or later ’cause of this move by twitter.

  6. You know…..

Ive got to say you really give a lot of great information on this blog. I know from experience that sometimes it is hard to keep churning out awesome content but you seem to be doing it lol.

I use wordpress on every website I flip because ppl want wordpress. It makes things easy if you know what you are doing.
