Folks who make money online via Flippa can testify that site flipping is one hell of a lucrative business if you know just how to go about it.

You can learn about site flipping and how to master it by reading the post, How To Make Money Online Flipping Websites/Blogs which features Michelle Adams’ QuikCash Converter free report.

Unfortunately this e-book doesn’t focus on selling free blogs such as those hosted on the blogger platform, which many have assumed cannot be sold. So without much ceremony, here’s how to sell a blogspot/blogger blog without much stress.

STEP 1: Acquire a great domain name: Since Google says you don’t really own their platform and as such can’t sell any blog hosted with them, you’ll need to move away from blogger to self-hosted wordpress keeping in mind to pick a quality domain name. For $7.99 you can get a domain name from Netfirms.

STEP 2: Premium Web Hosting Needed: Okay you might not really need premium web hosting as you intend selling the blog off soon but some buyers are quite wary and might insist that blogs they are interested in buying, should be hosted with quality hosts. Hostgator, though pricey is my top choice!

STEP 3: Install WordPress. This is quite easy if you’ve got CPanel. Download Michelle Adams QuikCash Converter for a wordpress installation via CPanel guide. Once you’re done installing wordpress, do please make sure that your permalink structure is set to /%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%.html as this is blogger’s default permalink structure.

STEP 4: Log-in to your wordpress dashboard and start importing your blogger blog by following the steps below

You’ll need to authorize wordpress to access your Blogger blog account

Once you’ve granted WordPress access to your Google-Blogger account, you’ll be presented with all the blogger blogs registered under that account. Simply find the blog you’d like to import and click the magic button, import, then sit back and relax.

After a few minutes or so, depending on how large your blogger blog is, you’ll receive a notification showing that all posts have been imported as shown in the images below,

NOTE: This importing feature doesn’t import your blog post images. They’ll all still be hosted on Blogger. I’ll advice you move all the images one by one to your wordpress installation, if you don’t have tons of blog posts. If you do have tons of blog posts with tons of images I suggest, you just let blogger host them for you ;-)

STEP 5: This is the final step. You’ll need to redirect your blogspot blog together with all the posts to your new domain. WebUpDate has got an excellent guide on redirecting blogger blogs to self hosted wordpress blogs.

NOTE: Once the 301 redirects have been properly set. You need to wait like a month or two for Google to update their system with the new URLs. Under no condition must you change permalink structure again as doing so will render any link you have lying around the web useless.

Also expect some probable drop in PR which is brought on by the 301 redirects. This PR decay shouldn’t bug you much as it really doesn’t affect your traffic.

STEP 6: Go sell your blog now with ease ;-)

so much to learn but very informative, thanks.
But one question, is it possible to still all the google advantages that the blogspot has had before, like PR or anything like that?

  2. thanks for this information. I’ve been going to some sites that could buy blogspot sites but there are few who buys them. Thanks for sharing this information. A good one to consider.

  3. Ewealths says:

From what I understood from the above, I think what you’re actually selling are the post and the property that have gathered over the years and not the blogspot itself, because you are going to redirect to a new domain name, isn’t it?

    • From my own understanding, if you’re flipping a domain name, you’re selling just that domain name BUT if you’re flipping a website, you’re selling both the content of the website and the domain name. Thus this article can go two ways.

      1. After redirecting to a new domain name and Google has transferred PR, you can go ahead and sell just the domain name OR
      2. You can go ahead and sell both domain name and content. It’s your call ;-)

This is awesome information, I know someone who is selling her blog these days, she might be interested on reading this!

    Thanks a lot!

  5. Mia says:

Thank you for this insightful post & your effort . I will keep your second ( 2nd ) response to @Ewealths in mind – however : Googles PR transfer doesnt occur that quickly , it sometimes takes up to 3 months ( in some cases more ) for ones PR to take effect [on their new blog/site ] ; so if the domain one intends to sell off is nearing close to expiration , I’d say its cutting it close to the edge :)

@Hesham – thank you for keeping me in mind Hesham :D U Rock !

    Hi,

You’ve a awesome blog. Actually, when hosting numerous websites, you ought to be cautious to host them on several ip addresses. This could be great in link building. I use multipleiphosting for hosting multiple websites. You can take a look at them too. This unique technique is labeled as SEO Hosting and its deemed to be current and more effective internet advertising process.

  7. Your Post Rocks! Very Informative. Thanks

Just sharing a piece of my mind, My Personal view of the domain market. Buying & selling domains name is the digital version of buying and selling real estate. Domain buy & sale are a virtual real estate transaction. Only one person can own that beautiful house, meaning the domain. The one who buys it first has every legal, ethical, moral right to do as he pleases with it, including selling it at for a profit.

  8. After that you need to promote your blog from time to time, drive traffic to the blog get good PR and you can start selling post, blogroll and banners on your blog, all the best.

  9. Hi my friend,Thanks for sharing this post. I already experience this thing where I sold my blogspot blog last May of this year for $550.That’s why I am now using wordpress because I can now afford to purchase a hosting plan.By the way, if you prefer to do blog flipping using wordpress, I think you must use the reseller hosting plan from hostgator. So you can easily transfer your hosting account info. Thanks, – Felix

Thanks for the tip man. How did you manage to sell off the blogspot for $550 without transferring to WordPress?

      • Iroko says:

I am also interested in this info…I have a blogspot blog with a PR of 2, though the domain name is really keyword, I am looking for ways to really make money flipping websites?

  10. I wonder if somebody give information on where to sell the blospot site If it has a PR 3 other than redirecting to other domain name.

Great post and summarized points how we can import all blog post to wordpress site. But I have trouble with going through all the images that I have on one of my blogger site. And I can’t done it manually. Is there some other way.

    • Udegbunam Chukwudi says:

Unfortunately there seems to be no way to import the images to wordpress unless it’s done manually. The images remain hosted on blogger though.
