Quality Blog SEO Service Defined By Some ProBloggers

Posted by Udegbunam Chukwudi on July - 19 - 2010

On Sunday 11 July 2010, I made up my mind that it was time I started providing a service on my blog and thus I decided on the Blog Setup service. Having only a few ideas of mine with regards what a proper blog setup service should offer, I wrote for help with the post: Help! What Makes An Excellent Blog Setup Service?

Aaron of Blog Reaction commented that I should add SEO to the service and that got me nervous ’cause I wasn’t sure what a proper SEO service entailed.

On the night of Tuesday 13 July 2010, I decided that the best thing to do was to contact those who have been blogging long before I came on the scene and have also been successfully @ it i.e. the ProBloggers.

Of the 20 bloggers I contacted, only 11 of them have had the time/opportunity to leave a feedback and here are their opinions on what a good SEO service entails.

Hesham Zebida of Start A Business says:

In my opinion, if you would like to start a blog setup service and include SEO service to your package, then the first thing you should think of is how to introduce the new blog to major search engines by finding the right keywords, and write down a good title and description that has at least two different keywords, and suggest a few SEO plugins that can be used to enhance search engines optimization along with an explanation for each plug-in and how to use it.

Another important thing is working to get more external backlinks to a blog, and how to effectively link internally to increase time on site!

Some other important advices you can give is to add a special part on how to write a good title, description and a set of keywords for articles or posts that works for search engines without neglecting blog readers.

Actually there is a lot you can include to give a powerful SEO service!

Ari Herzog, the Social Media Marketing guy keeps it as simple as:

All I can imagine is don’t launch the blog without using SEO so an engine can find it

Keep it simple: If I am keyword searching for X and X is part of the site, I should see the site. That is SEO in a nutshell.

Justin Germino who has been a Technology Blogger for two years considers SEO Services to be the following:

Building backlinks to a new found blog or website by submitting them to various article directories, forums, classifieds and other social media sites (Digg, StumbleUpon, Facebook, ReddIt, LinkedIn, Propeller, BlogEngage…etc).  This may include specifically trying to build backlinks on higher pagerank blogs.

SEO Optimize sites/articles "META" tags by putting relevant keywords in the META TITLE, META DESCRIPTION and META KEYWORDS tags to optimize search engine results and listings are accurate.

Optimize posts or blog site with high quality keywords.  This would involve trimming out useless keywords and using Google Keywords Tool to pick select keywords that have a decent amount of search traffic but a low competition rate to ensure higher placement in search engines.

In my own estimates, it takes about 1-2 hours to properly SEO Optimize each post after the initial post creation and at least 5-10 hours per week to continue link building and SEO optimization of a website or blog overall.

This is from my own experience were 76% of my blog traffic comes from search engines based on using my own SEO optimization tips.

Harsh Agarwal who offers WordPress SEO Services keeps it simple too:

SEO is search engine optimization which means making your blog more prominent in Search engine.

Udi Schlessinger of Twitter Jail left me this email:

I actually virtually only do my own SEO. However, I know that you need to do social bookmarking (i.e. link wheels), article marketing,  forum posting, etc. Here’s an example of someone my friend contracted for SEO services:

* Directory submissions
* Article Marketing
* Blog with 10 posts about your field linked back to your site
* Forum posting
* Social Bookmarking
* Plus quality backlinks (special linking from high PR sites)
* Site review for SEO purposes including page linking and alt, meta, title tags

These methods will improve SEO and also increase visit numbers.

Kristi Hines who’s great @ sharing Blogging Tips is of the opinion that:

A blog would require the following SEO optimization:

- Create sitemap
- Setup blog on Google Webmaster Tools, Yahoo Site Explorer, Bing Webmaster Central
- Submit sitemap to search engines (Google Webmaster Tools, Yahoo Site Explorer, Bing & Ask)
- Install All in One or Platinum SEO Pack (if not using Thesis Theme)
- Keyword research for blog
- Link building (directories, RSS submission, blog commenting, forum links)

Ajith Edassery who writes about Make Money Online tips says:

By blog related SEO Services, what people generally mean is:

- SEO Optimizing the blog theme via various tweaking and setting up SEO plugins, meta tags
- Optimizing the site (robots.txt, sitemap.xml,…)

It can also include:
- Submission to search engines and directories
- Link building services
- Social media strategy

Jason Acidre of SEO Strategies suggested that

Perhaps you can add Link Building, Keyword Research/Analysis, Competitor Analysis, On-page Optimization, Tracking/Analytics and Conversion rate optimization as well as Full Content Planning/Site and Internal link Structuring.

I think it’s best to have this package as an on-going project (particularly with link building), but if not, you can just suggest things on how your client can employ SEO Strategies including a report for suggested keywords and competitor analysis.

Dennis Edell of Direct Sales Marketing says:

I’m no SEO expert for sure (far from it, lol), but it could mean a number of things…

  1. Perhaps something as simple as telling the customer what SEO plugins to install and how to use them.
  2. Actually doing the SEO for each blog yourself; including the service in your package…..keyword research, linking strategies, etc. There’s all kinds of things that could go into it.

Mitch Of I’m Just Sharing makes five points:

  1. SEO means making sure the client’s site is accurately portraying what the business is about.  That means making sure the main page is strong, then making sure all other pages support the main page in some fashion.
  2. It means helping the client with keywords and keyword phrases if they can’t do it themselves, which is often the case.  They have to be ready to pay you to do the research, however, I don’t get that all that often.
  3. It means making sure every page on a client’s site is balanced, because believe it or not that helps SEO.  There are things that should be standard on every single page, which means they should be in the same place each time.
  4. It means making sure to do a lot of internal linking, probably more so than external linking.  It’s a part of what many people forget to do.
  5. It means telling the client the truth always.  If they’re in a tough niche to rank high, tell them.  If they have a business that’s off in the netherworld somewhere, tell them how strong their prospects might be in reaching out to the masses.  If they have strange colors tell them what would work better, yet allow them some individuality.  If they need more or less content, tell them.  In other words, credibility is what you always need to be about, not income, because credibility gets you recommendations, and that keeps business coming in.

Daniel Scocco of Daily Blogging Tips who wrote the free reports, Make Money Blogging and Top 50 Mistakes To Avoid When Building Your Website has this to say:

An SEO service can offer many things. Examples are:

  1. Analysis of the on-page and on-site SEO factors of the website, including a recommendation for necessary changes.
  2. Analysis of the market, including keyword research, competition assessment, current opportunities and so on.
  3. Content development for the website, including articles, quizzes and other content that will help with search rankings.
  4. Link building, through linkbait development, article marketing, social bookmarking and so on.

A company could offer all these things combined in a package, or each of them separately.

Since I’m aiming my SEO services @ new blogs only, I arrived at the following conclusion based on the help of these top bloggers.

The SEO Package of my soon to be launched blog setup service will feature the following:

  1. Creation of blog sitemap for humans and search engine
  2. Submission of blog to the major search engines Via Google Webmaster Tools, Yahoo Site Explorer and Bing Webmaster Central
  3. Installation and Configuration of the All in One SEO plug-in
  4. SEO Optimization of the blog’s theme HI, H2 H3 etc tags
  5. Free tutorial on keyword research for blog posts
  6. Free tutorial on creating a new blog post, editing and optimizing permalinks for the search engines

I’d like to say a big thank you to all of you contributed to this post. Words can’t express my gratitude @ your honoring my email. Here’s wishing you all the best of blogging days to come.

Cheers ;-) .

  1. I’m seeing a lot of good suggestions up there, and you’ve decided to go for good choices of SEO services to include :) I wish you all the best with your new blog setup business man. I may have to redirect future (relevant) clients your way, seeing as you’re an expert with wordpress blogging.

By the way, thanks for the special mention (again), I couldn’t feel any prouder, being aligned with all the experts up there. Thanks man, with deepest sincerity :)

    Regards,
    Jason Acidre

    • Lol. I ain’t no expert in wordpress. I just happen to have worked a lot on this blog that I know quite some stuff with regards wordpress. I’m currently setting up a friend’s blog to see how many days, it would take me to get it running perfectly well. I’d be needing some REAL testimonies before I’d deem myself ready to receive referrals from the likes of you ;-)

Your blog might be new but from your blog posts, you seem to know your onions thus my including you with the experts as you call them ;-) . Keep up the good work!

  2. I fully understand the “ain’t no expert” thing.

I’ve got friends who come to me when their WordPress blog breaks down and they see me as an expert. I just say to them “when you make as many mistakes, and break as many WordPress blogs, as I have, you soon learn how to fix them.” lol

  3. Thanks for the great insight to the various opinions on SEO, one other thing is maybe creating a one time blast to a ping service like Ping O Matic “http://pingomatic.com/” this can give an initial boost to getting blogs listed.

  4. Thanks for including my thoughts with people more knowledgeable about the subject.

    What will you be doing?

    • Oh please, quit being modest. You know you belong to the knowledgeable lot online ;-) . Thanks for contributing your own quota. Totally appreciate it.
You probably missed the end of this post. I outlined what I’ll finally be adding to the SEO service.

P.S: Thanks for leaving your first comment on my blog. I’m so ECSTATIC right now ;-)

  5. Hey Udegbunam,
Thanks for the inclusion of my little bit here.. and great to hear from the fellow bloggers on what they think is blog SEO.

So when are you launching your services?

    Cheers,
    Ajith

    • Hopefully once I’m done setting up the first site that will serve as sample of what I offer, I’ll be launching the service. Believe me you I’m just realizing that this blog setup service of a thing can be TEDIOUS.

There are just so many things that go into getting the setup right that I’m kinda finding it difficult to set a just price for the service. I’ll probably be needing help setting a price as well. lol

Thanks for your help anyway ;-)

  6. Fantastic tips from the other bloggers! What’s even more awesome is the idea behind you creating the post! Asking the bloggers to get their opinion is great!

    Brilliant! Keep it up!
    Ian

  7. I’m sure I’ve commented here before.

    • Hmm. I don’t think you have Ari ’cause if you have, your comments should have gone dofollow by now as you would have fulfilled my 3 solid comments requirement. Besides I ALWAYS remember when the big guys comment on my blog. lol

That’s one of the nice things about not having plenty of commenters. It easier to remember who has commented before or not ;-)

  8. Mitch says:

I’m proud to be a part of this post. Good luck with all your endeavors, and when you’re rich, don’t forget us “little people”. lol

  9. Ewealths says:

Reading the comments alone makes me want to drop out of the comments section, I have been following this blog for quite sometime now, and I know reading comments is actually sometimes for interesting than even some posts.
Thank you so much for this SEO made simple!

  10. mk akan says:

nice one man……some great advice here…

  11. Tinh says:

Nice wrap up, I read them all and I can conclude that we should do what SE esp. Google suggested and change as it changes. Do not apply any blackhat tricks

  12. Singh@fun blog says:

Submitting your blog to search engine confirms more traffic to your site.
