How To Setup A Subdomain CDN Via CPanel

Posted by Udegbunam Chukwudi Under Web Resources On June 9, 2010 15 COMMENTS

@Dragonblogger after reading my post on how to setup W3 Total Cache for a faster wordpress blog, suggested that the tutorial would have been complete if I had included some sort of guide or screenshots on setting up a subdomain which could be used as a CDN (Content Delivery Network).

Setting up a subdomain is a walk in the park especially when using CPanel. Here’s how I set up mine.

Open Response To Utiware’s Comment/Email Request

Posted by Udegbunam Chukwudi Under Reviews On June 7, 2010 20 COMMENTS

Utiware Web Hosting

After months of waiting for the management of Utiware Web Hosting to tender some form of apology for the bad service I received while trying to host with them last year, they leave a comment and send me an email that’s TOTALLY unexpected.

Here goes their comment/email and my response in bold letters.

=============================================================

Dear Udegbunam Chukwudi,

http://www.strictlyonlinebiz.com/blog/utiware-web-hosting-experience/713/

I am writing to ask you to delete the above blog post that you posted against Utiware last year. While we understand that your particular communication regarding the installation of Wordpress didn’t go well at the time, you have expressed your grievances. You have also received additional information from other Utiware customers who have not experienced the issue that you complained about (not being able to install Wordpress). We have numerous customers across Nigeria who use Wordpress on our servers. For example, this is a link to the WordPress Blog of Jide Ogunleye, our customer who responded to your post several months ago: http://www.jideogunleye.com/blog/

After 8 months of that post being up, you finally decide to pay attention to my grievances. Your damage control efforts are quite futile and late. Instead of apologizing for the f**kups of your customer care representatives, you give me the impression that my airing my grievances via that blog post = the apology you are supposed to be tendering.

Your customers aren’t complaining because they didn’t have to go through the anguish and lost deadline I did due to logistics from your end. You people just played dumb to my plight probably because it was a measly #3,500 ($22). Your present customers are having a ball hosting with you guys. Well I say good for them. I’m sincerely glad that they are having a better experience than I did.

My Lousy Commenting Policy Undergoes Changes Again!

Posted by Udegbunam Chukwudi Under Announcements On June 6, 2010 18 COMMENTS

Tuesday May 25, 2010 at 9:16 PM, one of the new commentators here contacted me because I had delinked her comment for failing to stick to my commenting policy.

My commenting policy clearly states that commentators will generally be giving a free hand @ using keywords of their choices ONLY after leaving 10 comments.

Below are the emails we exchanged:

Hello.

I recently commented on your blog but had the link removed for not following your commenting policy.  I apologize for wasting your time with that.  I would like some clarification before commenting again.  Am I allowed to use ‘Louisa@Designer Handbags’, or would I have to use Louisa@Galliano’ for the first 10 comments?  If it’s the latter I probably won’t bother.

Thanks.

To this I replied

Thanks for contacting me but sorry. It has to be the latter.
If my policy changes, I’ll let you know. have a great day/night ;-)

And she replied again

Yeah no offense, but that’s a pretty lousy blog commenting policy. Basically you are forcing your commenters to give you 10 ‘free’ comments before you give them anything in return.  Most blogs are more appreciative of their commenters as they know it is what keeps all of their posts fresh in the eyes of the search engines.

Anyways, it’s your call.  I have plenty of other blogs that would happily accept my comments.

Thanks.

-Louisa

To everyone who have wanted to leave a comment here but decided not to after reading my “lousy” commenting policy, this is what I have to say.

StrictlyOnlineBiz’s Top Blog Posts Of The Week 13

Posted by Udegbunam Chukwudi Under Hot Posts On June 4, 2010 5 COMMENTS

Last week was such a bore and I was so uninspired to go through my FeedDemon. That’s the reason why last week Friday’s top blog posts didn’t make an appearance.

This week, as always, I went back to modifying my theme again ;-) . Some things had to go and some had to stay while other’s had to be brought in.

Of all the modifications, I’m most proud of the fact that I’ve finally found use for the first page of my domain name. I had published a page titled "The Ultimate Make Money Online Nigeria Guide" some weeks back and up till last week, the traffic to that page had been minimal thus I decided to transform it into the home page for StrictlyOnlineBiz and I succeeded using HTML via Dreamweaver ;-)

In the past few days, I’ve also been commenting heavily on dofollow blogs to get that page ranking as soon, as possible as it seems I’ll have to rely heavily on the search engines to up the traffic to that page.

I hope this week has been a good one for you guys. Here are this week’s hot posts.

Learn To Trade Forex Like A Pro With AvaFX

Learn to Trade Forex Like The Pros in 24 hours

This is in no way a sponsored post. It’s just another one of my discoveries/stumbleupons while surfing for more ways to earn a living online from Nigeria. It’s based on a casual review of the site based on the information contained therein.

Day in day out seminars are given here and there all across Nigerian with bogus claims such as "Learn to Trade Forex Like The Pros in 24 hours". Quite a number of folks have in their naivety gone for these seminars and afterwards prematurely gone ahead to trade online with real cash only to come out counting their losses in masses.

Anyway for those of you willing to learn a bit of what trading forex is all about, do give AvaFX Online Trading Center a try.

Top 10 Google Products Every Blogger Needs

Posted by Udegbunam Chukwudi Under Blogging Tips On May 31, 2010 29 COMMENTS

Google Rocks!

Google Google Google! What would my life online be without this company? Ever since Yahoo shut down one of my email accounts because of their 60 days of inactivity clause, I moved over to Gmail and have been hooked ever since. Yahoo further shot themselves in the foot by suddenly becoming slow on dial-up connections and by disabling POP and IMAP on their free accounts.

Gmail has made my emailing activities such fun that I’ve been exploring most of their products especially those that make my life as a blogger easy.

Here are 10 of Google’s products that I feel every blogger needs to get acquainted with

UPDATE: W3 Total Cache 0.9 has been released and it’s got a different interface. Do please check out Making Blogs Faster With W3 Total Cache 0.9 when you’re through reading this tutorial.

The web is agog with news that if your site has a slow loading time, your search engine ranking could be affected and despite Google’s claim that this will only affect just less than 1% of sites, most bloggers aren’t taking chances and have started running to wordpress cache plug-ins to help them achieve faster blog/site load times.

Justin Germino of Dragon Blogger tried out W3 Total Cache and the experience kind of left him burnt as he writes in “Increasing Wordpress Page Load Performance Can Backfire“. Apparently neither WP-Super Cache nor W3 Total Cache works just right on his blog.

I’ve been using W3 Total Cache for months now and it’s been nothing but marvelous to me.

I must admit though that the plug-in can be quite tricky for the technologically disadvantaged but once it’s been configured as should be, it works wonders ;-) .

Depending on the settings you make use of, you could experience a rough time as did Justin thus I’ve decided to share with you my W3 Total Cache configuration settings in hope that it would help you speed up your blog

StrictlyOnlineBiz’s Top Blog Posts Of The Week 12

Posted by Udegbunam Chukwudi Under Hot Posts On May 21, 2010 2 COMMENTS

Quite a lot has happened this week and my stress levels are peaking OUTRAGEOUSLY! Sometimes I feel like cursing the fellow who brought up the idea of NYSC (National Youth Service Corps) as it’s just yet another version of SLAVERY amongst the blacks.

I’ve been working free of charge for 2 months now without pay only to hear that I might not be paid till the 3rd month and when I threaten to stop coming to work if my due wages aren’t paid, the P.R.O of the hospital makes it known to me; in a subtle manner, that he runs the show and can F**K me up anytime he pleases.

To make matters worse, my fellow corps members, who have not been paid as well, KEPT QUIET in their majority, leaving me to play the bad guy instead of us all rising in one voice to give them a taste of their BULLSH**ING!

One thing I’ve learned from this experience, is to strive as much as possible NEVER to work for the government of Nigeria as they can be so FULL OF CR*P. Also day in day out, we scream that things are getting harder in the country BUT it’s still those of us doing the screaming that are making things a lot harder. Nigeria, a nation where people cared about their neighbors, is now becoming an "EVERY MAN FOR HIMSELF" nation! So help us God!

Anyway, I just pray that I don’t end up HYPERTENSIVE after this year of "glorified enslavement to the nation" is over!

The stress (work and blog modifications/promotion etc) has been so much that, I barely updated and went through my rss reader thus I’ve only got 3 top blog posts for this week.
