Free Blog Setup Services For Five. Grab Yours NOW!

Posted by Udegbunam Chukwudi Under Announcements On August 9, 2010 10 COMMENTS

At the beginning of this month (Sunday 1st August to be precise), EzBlogSetup was launched. So far so good, I’ve been getting a few emails from folks who are curious to know more about the service and of course how legit I was ;-) .

SearchNigerianJobs which was the first wordpress blog I setup for a client probably wasn’t enough to convince them thoroughly thus I went back to the drawing board and started brainstorming ideas that could help boost sales.

After much thought, it occurred to me that my sales page was lacking testimonials needed to drive/boost sales and so I came up with this win-win idea.

EzBlogSetup is now offering 5 FREE blog setup services to the FIRST 5 clients who contact me right from this very moment. If you’re interested, here are the details.

StrictlyOnlineBiz’s Top Blog Posts Of The Week 22

Posted by Udegbunam Chukwudi Under Hot Posts On August 6, 2010 12 COMMENTS

My battle  with what I have always thought was Sir Malaria/Typhoid Fever continues. Mum scolded me and ordered me to do a complete blood work. She was right anyway. We doctors are fond of asking patients to do a complete blood work BUT when it comes to our own health, we sometimes can be negligent :-( .

Test results came out and all were Negative including HIV (Thank God ;-) ) and Malaria/Typhoid (WTF. Something must be wrong somewhere. It’s not normal to have a malaria free blood stream in this part of the world).

Woke up yesterday morning, feeling unwell. My senior colleague takes my BP and it’s a 120/90mmHg. Now he’s placed me on Lexotan and a different kind of anti-malaria drug. He says I might be stressed out and he might be right though I pray he ain’t ’cause that would mean giving this blog a breather.

Wednesday’s blog post, How To Show Adsense To Search Engine Visitors Only Using JavaScript gave rise to an attack by trackback spammers (Over 30 spammy trackbacks) and Hostgator spat another resource alert. Now I’m left wondering if the attack by the spammers, Akismet or WP-Spam Free is to blame. I decided to deactivate trackbacks and pingbacks. Let’s see what happens.

Show Adsense To Search Engine Visitors With JavaScript

Posted by Udegbunam Chukwudi Under Google Adsense On August 4, 2010 10 COMMENTS

Making money online via Google Adsense could sometimes backfire without warning. Some of us are already aware of Google’s smart pricing which is simply a reduction in CPC on ads shown on blogs displaying Google Adsense with a dismal CTR (click-through-rate).

To avoid this smart pricing of a thing, bloggers/webmasters have resorted to showing Adsense ads ONLY to search engine visitors as studies have shown beyond reasonable doubt that regular visitors don’t click on ads. Rather search engine visitors do.

There are plug-ins and codes to achieve this but most of them don’t work with cache plug-ins which are required to speedup wordpress blog load times. A work around using JavaScript has been developed for blogger blogs but is surprisingly valid for wordpress blogs too.

This tutorial is based on how I got Stephen Cronin’s hack/code to work on my blog with W3 Total Cache installed.

NOTE: Please backup your theme files before proceeding. I will not be responsible for any bugs in your site due to following this tutorial to the tee.

Let’s begin.

Sh*t Can Happen With Reseller Web Hosting. Take Note!

Posted by Udegbunam Chukwudi Under Web Resources On August 2, 2010 17 COMMENTS

Just the other day, I and Iroko of Cheap Laptops were having a conversation, via the comment form, with regards to Eight Small Steps To Being A Great Nigerian Web Host when Bryan of Do It Yourself Printed Circuit Boards, stepped in and left a comment that was just too good to be left as a comment.

I felt I had to share his story with you guys. For someone like me who had started toying with the idea of generating extra income online as a webhosting reseller, it made me sit back and ponder whether I was about to take on something that was way beyond my capacity.

Here’s Bryan’s comment.

EzBlogSetup Service Is Now LIVE & OPEN For Orders!

Posted by Udegbunam Chukwudi Under Announcements On August 1, 2010 9 COMMENTS

Wordpress Blog Setup Service

It’s with so much joy mixed with exhaustion and Malaria :-D , that I finally announce that my blog setup service by name, EzBlogSetup is now open for orders.

In a nutshell, the service is targeted at folks who want to start blogging with a self-hosted wordpress blog but find the whole wordpress setup thingy a daunting task. Those dying to move over to wordpress from blogspot ain’t left out either.

NOTE: This ain’t a blogspot to wordpress service BUT I’m working at polishing my skills in that arena ;-) . More info on that service as time flies by.

Despite pressure from other blog setup services that charge as much as $80 to $200 for their blog setup service, I’ve decided to set mine at N4,000 ($27) Only. This is cause I SUCK BIG TIME @ charging folks to get things done for them. Besides @ $27, I can sleep well @ night knowing that I haven’t taken too much advantage of the non-tech savvy ;-) .

For now, EzBlogSetup’s service will be targetted @ the local market only. As time goes on (or rather as business starts to pick up ;-) ) I’ll be offering the service to the international community.

To all those who contributed in making this possible, I say a massive thank you. Les Quiero Mucho.

Cheers ;-) .

StrictlyOnlineBiz’s Top Blog Posts Of The Week 21

Posted by Udegbunam Chukwudi Under Hot Posts On July 30, 2010 9 COMMENTS

I casually logged into my CPanel last week to find that I had 13 Resource Alerts. Apparently a script/plug-in on my server has been running MySQL queries for over 15 seconds which is against Hostgator’s TOS.

resource overuse 1

resource overuse 2

As they suggested that a wordpress plug-in might be the cause, I deactivated Yet Another Related Post Plug-in. Dev of Technshare had his Hostgator blog suspended for hours for the same reason. Apparently some bloggers have been experiencing the same thing: [Plugin: Yet Another Related Posts Plugin] Broken in 2.9? Unfortunately the Resource Alerts till today still persist and so I’ve deactivated Database caching for W3 Total Cache, Enhanced Contact Form and GoCodes.

Here’s hoping I find the culprit before my blog gets suspended :-( .

How To Get A Yahoo Application ID For XML Sitemap

Posted by Udegbunam Chukwudi Under Wordpress Plug-ins On July 28, 2010 4 COMMENTS

The XML Sitemap plug-in for wordpress blogs helps you create a valid xml sitemap with which you can ping Google, Yahoo, Bing and Ask each time you update your wordpress blog. Better still, it facilitates the crawling of your pages by the search engines ;-) .

For over a year now,  I’ve never been able to ping Yahoo because I didn’t understand how to go about filling the registration/request form for a Yahoo Application ID but Tia Peterson of Complete Guide to Blogging encouraged me to try it again and I did and succeeded ;-) .

Here’s how I managed to get a Yahoo application id for the sitemap plug-in.

Log-in into your wordpress admin area and go straight to the XML Sitemap settings page.

Scroll down to the Update Notification area, tick Notify YAHOO about updates of your Blog and then request for an application ID.

Top 7 Ways Of Getting Your Comments Approved Online

Posted by Udegbunam Chukwudi Under Blogging Tips On July 26, 2010 29 COMMENTS

With the advent of spammy comments, blog owners are very wary of comments they approve on their blogs.

I am one of those blog owners.

If you’re a regular around the popular blogs, you might have noticed that quite an amount of bloggers now consider comments such "Great Tips"and "What an excellent post" as spam despite the fact that some bloggers are of the opinion that sometimes commenters are just not in the mood for writing lengthy comments or just don’t have much to say.

Well, if you’re new to the act of blog commenting, here are 7 surefire ways of getting your comments approved on a new blog you just discovered. Once the blog owner is familiar with your name/brand, you can be rest assured that ANY comment you leave on that blog will be approved (That is of course if you don’t start insulting or spamming him/her in the future).

LatestNigerianJobs Releases Guide To Blogger Blogs

Posted by Udegbunam Chukwudi Under Reviews On July 21, 2010 10 COMMENTS

Eromosele Aweriale who owns the spot for Alexa’s 4th most popular job site in Nigeria  (LatestNigerianJobs) has collaborated with Tony Areghan to create the first concise guide to running a blogspot blog.

The E-book titled How I Make 225,000 Naira from My Internet Business Every Month, covers the following topics in it’s 196 pages:

  1. Registering and hosting a website for free (Blogger Platform)
  2. Designing your website after registration
  3. Updating your website
  4. Registering with Google Adsense via Blogger and making money from it
  5. Receiving your money here in Nigeria via DHL every month
  6. Promoting and growing your website to the point where you can be making as much as N225,000 every month.

Loaded with tons of images to guide you through, this e-book comes HIGHLY recommended for those who don’t want to host with Wordpress.com or buy server space of their own. A primary school student could follow this guide to the tee without a hitch ;-) .

I must say that when my roommate showed me the e-book, I was stunned. Lord knows how many hours a day of hardwork, it took them both to get the e-book finished. Most Nigerian reports don’t even show that much dedication @ all.

Here are my favorite quotes from the e-book

Most people don’t make money from online website business in Nigeria due to three main reasons:

  1. Ignorance, lack of knowledge and wrong information
  2. Unseriousness and laziness
  3. Lack of patience and perseverance

Only when the foundation has been laid and the website begins to grow should you expect to reap the fruits of all your hard work and sweat. But before that time comes, you will need to put in several hours building, updating, growing and promoting your website.

I can personally testify to this being so TRUE! Blogging for money is HARDWORK and the only way you can possibly keep going @ it is if you LOVE IT! Till date, I continue to learn and apply all knowledge gathered to this site in hope that @ some point in time, I’ll strike that elusive GOLD ;-) .
