I’ve been monitoring traffic to my blog especially to some posts in particular and despite my backlinking efforts, it appears they’re gradually dropping off the first 2 pages of the SERPs .
My research led to me to believe that, linking to unrelated sites, could actually drop the relevance of your post/page. (I can’t say how true this is)
Thus I’ve decided to revise my comment policy.
Taking a hint from Lis Sowerbutts of Passive Income Online’s New Comment Policy, I’ve decided to install SEO Super Comments plug-in.
With this plug-in active, all comments from sites TOTALLY UNRELATED to the blogging and make money online niche will have their URLs leading to a dynamically created page.
On this page, every comment that has been made by the commentator will be listed and most importantly a dofollow link to his/her site will appear @ the top.
So here goes, my new comment policy.
- The use of keywords in the name field is NOT ALLOWED. Please use the following format:YourName@YourWebsite or just your name. If your blog/site is totally unrelated to the blogging and make money online niche, you’re HIGHLY ADVISED to use just the name of your site.
- Drive-By comments like "Thanks for sharing", "Nice post", or spammy comments will be DELETED!
NOTE: This is an experiment to see what will happen to my search engine traffic and the relevance of certain posts over the course of 1 month. If things go well, SEO Super Comments will stay BUT if things stay the same, SEO Super Comments will be gone.
Also this blog remains DOFOLLOW @ all times, for EVERY commentator.
For an example of what the SEO Super Comments plug-in does, do click on the test comment below with the name, Facebook.
All the best and thanks for taking a few minutes to read through my policy.

That's a nice comment policy you've got there. Do check out my blog when you've got the time.
Cheers
I must apologize that I failed to read your comment policy well at first. Some of my comment went against your rule, I guess that was why they were never published. A pity those were comments with genuine information for your readers (I hate spamming just like you)
It is good that you have been keeping your eyes on your blog performance on the SERP. However, the recent dropping you are experiencing may actually have nothing to do with your blog or your link building activities.
Big G has some undisclosed alogrithm that causes some unexpected fluctuation in the way web pages are ranked. From experience, I will simply advise that you keep doing the right thing i.e. Moderating the comments to the posts and at the same time building backlinks for them using related but different keywords as anchor text. Cheers.
@NaijaEcash: All your comments have ALWAYS been approved believe me. I don't care if folks like you follow the comment policy or not as your contributions are always worthwhile and focused. If you never saw your comments after posting them, that's because they were in moderation and also probably because of the cache plug-in I'm using. As soon as the cache clears, your comments appear.
I just needed to clarify this ASAP before I step out to the hospital cos I'm kinda in a hurry. Do have a nice day. See ya!
@NaijaEcash: I'm very much aware of Google's ever fluctuating algorithm which is why this is a one month experiment to see what happens to my blog traffic.
I think I've done enough backlinking for this blog for now, so I'm moving on to my new general interest blog which is in dire need of solid backlinks before the next google page-rank update.
@Chukwudi
I'm sorry I jumped to conclusion. Those comments I talked about were already approved when I returned.
I was really delighted to note that you read my latest comment and responded. That is the way it should be. It makes your blog interactive and readers simply want to come back again and again as long as they find something interesting on the blog.
Dropping qualitative comment on your blog is easy for me because you don't sell fake products
I suspect you are a fan of Griz. You say it the way it is and don't care who gets offended. I really wish many more Nigerian bloggers will settle down to offer qualitative information instead of running after shadows in the name of get rich quick online junks. Do have a wonderful day.
@Nigerian Entrepreneur: I'm a fan of Grizzly Brear BUT I don't plan on walking in his footsteps. The amount of enemies that guy has made online is amazing. LMAO. Good for him that he doesn't reveal his true identity.
I do say things as I see them and don't really care that much, about who gets offended and who doesn't. Not everybody is going to like your every statement so just be true to yourself and ALWAYS let them know, it's just your opinion.
Using keywords instead of your real name when commenting seems unethical to me.
@Oluniyi David Ajao: It is unethical which is why Keywordluv was invented. This way commentators can use their real names or nick names and their keywords @ the same time.
