Google Analytics Asynchronous Tracking Code Rocks!
Sometime around December 2009, Google Analytics announced the launch of it’s new Asynchronous Tracking Code snippet which serves as a lighter version of the old code.
I’ve replaced the old analytics code with this one and I must say my blog loads a little bit faster now
.
According to Google, unlike the traditional installation, asynchronous tracking optimizes how browsers load ga.js so its impact on user experience is minimized. Better still the code can be put in the header of websites without delaying subsequent content from rendering.
The new tracking snippet offers the following benefits:
- Faster tracking code load times for your web pages due to improved browser execution
- Enhanced data collection and accuracy
- Elimination of tracking errors from dependencies when the JavaScript hasn’t fully loaded
To implement the new code on your site, simply copy and paste the code from this page: Asynchronous Tracking – Google Analytics – Google Code while remembering to change UA-XXXXX-X with your own web property ID.
Here’s to faster site load times and fined tuned analytics stats.
P.S: The Asynchronous Tracking Code is said to be in beta. It works fine for me so I’m sticking with it all the way
.

I haven’t even given any thought to changing the code I already have in; maybe I should, since loading is sometimes an issue and maybe it’s because of that. I’ll have to think about it some more; thanks for the heads up.

Just make sure you haven’t set any filters or goals in your analytics account cos after you switch to the asynchronous code, the old filters will stop working since they weren’t coded to work with it.
I have been using a different tracker due to Google’s old code which loads slower like what you said. So far I’m happy with what use currently but I’ll definitely give this new code a try and test it on different browsers and computers if necessary. I hope this is also compatible with other add-ons running altogether in a site.
What addons are you referring to? So far so good on my blog there’s been no conflict. Don’t go jamming different traffic analyzing JavaScripts together cos they can create erroneous stats and increase blog loading time.
I didn’t even know that they came out with a new code, so thank you for letting us know.
