Four Ways Of Getting Banned From StrictlyOnlineBiz

I’m sick and tired of funny/spammy comments and from today hence forth I shall be banning certain folks from my blog. Getting yourself into my ban list ain’t difficult @ all.

Just abide by the rules below and you can kiss your comments and subsequent visits to this blog goodbye.

  1. Leave comments that are totally off point and generic: What does it cost you to actually read through the blog post and leave a comment that’s TRULY related to the post? If English is not your first language, most of you are also included. I’m tired of seeing “Good job. Well write post. I bookmark this now. Come back later” and the likes
  2. Leave comments with multiple usernames and multiple keywords: You know who you are and I’m not going to let you fool around here no more. If you’re going to leave multiple comments on my blog, PLEASE make sure you use the same name and don’t go crazy on the usage of keywords. The fact I have KeywordLuv installed doesn’t mean you can peddle all sorts of crap here.
  3. Leave a link to your stupid site in your comment: Try selling me Viagra or the likes and you’re so OUT! Affiliate links are not left out too. If you want to promote your affiliate links. free of charge, do so on your own blog/site. Otherwise contact me to discuss a fee!
  4. Request permission to leave a trackback/pingback/linkback: One stupid Russian blogger is very fond of this and I can’t remember his name/site now. He keeps leaving comments that look like this “Nice Post. Can I blog about this and leave a link to this post?”. I must admit I fell for it until I saw the exact same comment on another blog. I then googled the exact comments and found it on quite a number of blogs. NOTE: Legitimate requests will not be affected ;) .

That’s all folks. Stick to these rules and you shall be duly rewarded. I’m out.

  1. Interesting points there but not all people who advertise their websites when commenting on a blog are doing it just to advertise their blog. After all, many blogs do have a box in which you can enter your website! I always input my website when commenting on blogs so if the blogger or anyone reading the blog wants to see who I am and what I’m about they can.

  2. It’s good that you are taking action to stop spam. People are taking full advantage of dofollow blogs. This is why a lot of blog owners disable dofollow because of that.

    -Kai

    • I contemplated taking down dofollow because of the spammers but I felt it wouldn’t be fair to my past commentators so I secured the help of Wp-Spam Free and Wp-Ban to help me slow them (spammers) down. Dofollow is here to stay @ StrictlyOnlineBiz

  3. Just came over here from my blog, where you left a comment, to check if it was “kosher” to approve. Needless to say that you and your comment are ;-) I agree completely with you, we bloggers have to be far tougher in what we approve when it comes to comments, as each comment adds content to our blogs AND we the blog owners are responsible for the content of our blogs. I am sticking to keep dofollow on my blog because I want to share the link juice with those commentators that provide valuable additions to my blog, additions I also benefit from. But I also feel more and more selective about what kind of comments and commentators I approve. In the end, I think it should be a privilege for people to get comments approve, not a right, if you know what I mean ;-) SY

    • Not to worry I’m Kosher! LOL.
I understand where you’re coming from and some legit comments don’t always get approved here either cos they end up looking so generic to me. In most cases I let them through based on my mood @ that moment ;)
I’m really not sure I understand the “I think it should be a privilege for people to get comments approve, not a right, part.

  4. Gee, you must be well liked to get all these spammy comments. I get a few but it feels like you get sooooo much more.

Still, I agree whole heartedly with you, as you want your comments to add to the value of the post and not to detract from it.

  5. I get some from those nations as well, but I am a little lenient on them if I see that they have put some effort into their comment, especially as English is not their language of choice.

  6. That part simply referred to people that think because they write “great blog, thank you” and nothing else, they have the right of getting their comments approved. SY

    • Hell No! Great Blog. Thank You! will also get you banned here unless you didn’t leave a URL in the URL field of the comment form. LMAO
That comment does not contribute to the discussion in anyway. I’m so with you on that. They have no right whatsoever to getting their comments approved para nada.

  7. Mitch says:

Most of those are spam anyway, so you should just be deleting them. This is a WordPress blog, so you really need to add Askimet to it and it will catch nearly 98% of all those comments so you won’t have to deal with them. You will have to check your spam folder to make sure legit stuff didn’t get in there, but otherwise your life will be much easier.
.-= Mitch hopes you will read…Are You A Lurker Or Participant In Life? =-.

    • Aksimet is good but you’ll still have to go through tons of spam in your spam folder to weed out the good ones. Adding Wp-Spam Free is the perfect combination. That way I have less spam to go through ;)

  8. Rose says:

So I suppose selling you a Roxxxy robot is out of the question too? lol

I found Askimet to be very useful.
