Blogging has it’s phases (2 phases in my experience). Some days it’s extremely enjoyable and some days it’s absolutely boring that I just don’t want to be around the blog and so I ignore it for some days and return when the zeal is back.

To get me through the days when I’m in no mood to write posts, I always make sure to write and schedule posts for the “rainy days”. Now this could sometimes be difficult if I’m experiencing a case of writer’s block so I have 5 techniques of generating content for my blog.

  1. I read a lot of blogs in my niche (blogging and making money online). Sometimes I learn a lot from them, implement their tips on my blogs and then write posts based on what I learnt from the posts.
  2. I grab the best contents/posts in my niche and create a short post with links to these contents.
  3. No matter how advanced you are in the blogging arena, you will still learn each day. Another way of generating content is through blogging about the challenges you’ve faced with blogging and how you overcame those challenges.
  4. Sometimes we don’t actually go deep into explaining some posts and in the future these posts could be revised and rewritten with more content and details.
  5. Guest posting is another means of generating content for blogs. I’m yet to venture into that route but will do so as soon as I get a page rank of 3 and above, I’ll introduce it here on this blog. In the mean time MK Akan has voluntarily submitted the first guest post titled  Can Nigerians Really Make Legit Money Online?

The above tips are basically how I generate content for my blogs and so far they’ve been working.

    your right chukz,
    and i will add..
1.observe and discuss what works in your niche
2.look for questions people are asking in your niche and answer them
3.Argue with an idea or a post on another blog…

i am working on something related to this…

  2. If I am not mistaken you are not the only person to get bored writing blogs. Nearly all have their rainy days. The alternative routes that you seek are those which most of the bloggers do. In fact these, options do make sense. Rather than leaving your blogs empty and upsetting your excited readers, it’s preferable to write short posts with detailed information and /or links to other posts.

  3. For those so-called rainy days, I would suggest that you keep articles in stock. Additionally, do a constant research on your niche area and generate as many links as possible. I know that you have already mentioned this in the post. I’m simply agreeing to this idea. This helps a lot!

  4. Is it okay to have more than one niche area to write on? If this is indeed possible then I could fluctuate between these two and avoid the boredom. I too get bored at times, writing on the same area. Generating links becomes frustrating sometimes. What worries me is losing my readers if I post some silly stuff just for the heck of it.

    • I get where you’re coming from and I tried it on a test blog and it didn’t quite work well. It appears Google prefers sites based on a particular topic and not multiple ones eg: Mixing Make money online and computer spare parts.
Traffic to that particular test blog remains low unlike this one.
Then again some folks might have triumphed combining different niches in one blog.

  5. Making the blog articles interesting to read can be one of the ways too. By interesting to read I mean to make changes to the fonts, background, color combination, number of words, quotes and pictorial examples which are suitable for the readers and help the readers in understanding the article in lesser time than expected. All this along with the ways you have suggested would make the blog more attractive and popular.

  6. Blogger’s block…..”Oh! I mean writer’s block” is something every blogger experiences; either in the earlier stage or even still, every now and then.

But, I’ll like go to with John Calton’s philosophy; that there’s nothing like writer’s block in the real sense but writer’s “blank” due to lack of research!

We need to also know that none ability to write/blog due to boredom is totally a different thing from experiencing “blank”. When you bored you “probably” know what to write but lack the motivation to write. While you are totally “blank” during a “block”.

So I think, in the realm of generating contents for blogs, one thing stands out and that is “Reasearch!” and more “Research!!” and more and more “Research!!!”
