Autoblogging, Blogging Farms and Copyrights Issues

breakthrough seminar autoblogs blog farming

The Henry Omenogor’s Breakthrough Experience continues as I vent my frustration on autoblogging and blogging farms and their infringement of my copyright :(

Hesham of FamousBloggers had voiced his non-acceptance of automated blogs about a week ago before I attended the seminar and now I can understand why.

After the long and tedious tutorials on setting up blog farms and autoblogs, I had to ask one question. "Isn’t this autoblogging business copyright infringement?" Henry Omenogor’s answer was NO! As long as you have an RSS on your site/blog, your articles are basically free to be used all over the internet as the user chooses.

Henry Omenogor went further to endorse blog farming as the way to go as that was what the "Big Boys like Joel Comm and Yaro (I can’t remember his surname)" were doing. Blog commenting, guest posts, forum posting etc are a WASTE OF TIME he says!

I couldn’t just get past the fact that most articles pulled by the autoblogging plug-in he used for the demonstration, left no link to the original source of the content and worse yet Adsense ads and ClickBank products were being generated off this content.

Little did I know what awaited me when I got home from the seminar. Something pushed me into doing some ego surfing and I came across a Nigerian autoblog that had scraped most of my top blog posts and had built Adsense around it complete with comments and all.

I could swear I was about to burst a brain vessel. WTF! My hard work was been used by some LAZY ASS MU**AF**KA to generate his own income. @!#?%. What even ached me the most was that this autoblog was competing with me on the first page of Google! OUTRAGEOUS! Is Google sleeping or something?

It took a few hours for me to calm down and do some research on whether this was allowed or not.

After reading posts such as Shyftr: Feed theft or social news reader?, 12 Important U.S. Laws Every Blogger Needs to Know, Could Google be Taking Plagiarism Lightly? I came to these conclusions.

  1. Since I’ve got an RSS Feed, it’s OKAY for my articles to appear on sites other than mine.
  2. It’s NOT OKAY for them to display my articles in full and then go ahead to encourage comments there. Duplicate Content issues are bound to arise and I know not if Google is wise enough to tell that my post is the ORIGINAL of the two.
  3. It’s NOT OKAY for them to add Google Adsense and make money off my articles without my consent!
  4. Finally, it’s JUST NOT OKAY for them to deny me a link back to my site as the Original Author of the article.

DETAILED  GUIDE ON HOW TO SET UP A PROFITABLE BLOG FARM

For a detailed insight into Blog Farming, check out: How to Create and Use a Blog Farm. Henry’s lecture was MOST DEFINITELY based on the info contained there.

Ending the topic of autoblogging and blog farms, Henry pitched his N5,000 ($33) domain and web hosting service which broken down goes as follows

  1. Domain Name: N2,500
  2. Web Hosting: N2,500 for 100MB of disk space. He didn’t disclose the monthly bandwidth allowance.

According to him, you’re better off buying from him ’cause his server is located in Canada which is where Google is located and thus blogs/sites hosted on his server get indexed FAST! (No comments)

I’ll have to devise a means of tackling the autoblog that "stole" my content. In the mean time, scheduled for next week Monday is an update of the PayPal Verification process. Stay tuned!

  2. Your anti-spam filter seems to think I am a bot. Lol ! Trying to submit my comment again.

I either go for ‘partial’ content in RSS or I include a reference to my blog and copyright notice with every post (yes, there is a wordpress plugin for that ;-) ) You can stop a lot of plagiarism with these two approaches.

I personally don’t like people stealing content from others, these guys don’t know how much they are hurting the sentiments of the original blogger.

  3. Have you actually been dinged for duplicate content issues? It seems like Google gets it right the vast majority of the time who the original author was.

Nevertheless, I still think it’s annoying when this type of stuff happens. They definitely need to provide a link back if they use their article.

  4. Danver says:

Thank you for your article. I am moving into avenues where I’ll get paid to write and I want to make sure I’m not on the infringement side of the copyright issues.

    Thanks.

  5. In 2011 Google has provided its solution as ranking will awarded to only those sites that have unique contents.

  6. Contents are the asset for writer and Search Engines also like good contents. When contents are stolen by another one, this makes the writer frustrated. My articles are also stolen by someone but I think that Google has indexed these contents from my site first and it will consider copy cat others.
