How To Evade Duplicate Content In Blogger Blogs
Posted by Udegbunam Chukwudi on April - 19 - 2010
When this blog was launched on the blogger platform, I set out to accomplish SEO Optimization and better indexing of my posts.
For a minute I thought to myself, if blogger blogs are owned by Google, they’d automatically be exempted from Google’s Duplicate Content Policy. Well I was living in denial.
A search for this problem on Google, saw me reading up to 3 posts which all came to the same conclusion.
“Bloggers Blogs Aren’t Exempted From Google’s Duplicate Content Policy”
Below is the method I used to help me keep in line with Google’s policy.
How To Evade Duplicate Content In Blogger Blogs
- Login in your blogger account, while in your dashboard click on Layout then Edit HTML.

- PLEASE BACKUP YOUR TEMPLATE BEFORE YOU PROCEED TO THE NEXT STEP! Click on Download Full Template.

- Go to your template code and scroll till you find <head> and just after that but before <b:skin> download and add this code to make your blog permanently Duplicate Content free.

Save your template and you’re done!
Thanks to Gaurav Akrani of Kalyan City Life Blog for this fix. Get more details on fixing Google’s Duplicate Content Policy here.

That is a great hack! Thanks alot for that, I mainly use WordPress, but I also have the odd Blogspot blog where this method will come in handy. On another note, did you notice that when you check your page load speed in Google’s webmaster tools, the things that do slow your site down are often identified as Google products such as Analytics and Adsense. You have to love the Big G
And yes, I agree, I wish they would implement a possibility to make indexing of double content impossible without having to touch code, sigh, SY

Hey what’s up? Hope the INETGLOBAL fiasco has been swept under the rug
. I hear that they are working on making Google products such as Analytics and Adsense as light as possible. Best of luck with this hack. Cheers!
Oh dear, honestly I wished I never have heard the names Inetglobal or Steve Renner. Over the last months I have spend a lot of time helping the victims and putting them in contact with people that can help them even better. Rewarding, but time consuming. I only wish more people would do a good research before signing up to “;get rich quick over night” schemes, wishful thinking, I know, SY

A quick question that strikes my mind while I was reading this post. A question about Duplicate Content. How much should I change the content so as not to be considered duplicate. Would a 30% change be enough? I’m very much used to spun 1 version of article to 10 Articles so I appreciate if you could help me out on this..
Thanks in Advance..
Michelle

I ain’t no expert in this but i think a 50% change is a pretty safe bet
Hmm! Maybe if I had research on this before now and try to execute it. I might have know how effective is this would be, because Googlebot just got my blogger blog put down as SPAM couple of days ago, well I’v gone through the restore procedures and hope Google will restore it soon. I’ll execute this immediately it’s restored.
Though, I don’t blog that often on that blog, it’s been rising of recent in terms of traffic and stuffs. It’s already a PR2.
Good luck with getting out of Google’s Black book. I’m already making arrangemets to move my second wordpress blog over to blogger as it’s not generating enough traffic and some indian folks or indian domain owners have turned it into their playground with spammy and useless comments.
Dayo, I doubt that Google shuts a blog down because of double content only. If it is “just” double content, Google normally de-indexes your blog, but it doesn’t shut it down completely. SY

Good luck with that too, blogger is still a cool place to dwell at no matter what!
Hospitalera, I’m not saying the blog was shut down to dupes, I said SPAM. I’m only saying maybe this might have had a positive impact on the blog, since it’s obviously not a SPAM blog.
However, I’m not so mad at the situation, cause I hate SPAMs as much as Google does, and I’m also aware that Google AntiSPAM system is large executed using “BOTs”.
So, I know it’s mistake on the side of GoogleBot.

I really wish I could help but I can’t. I suggest you do some googling to a find a solution to Google de-indexing your site. Just make sure you haven’t been doing anything blackhat.
hi, i have a question , its about duplicate content, though not directly related to the post oh, so no vex biko. i checked my analytics today and saw that i got about 28 referalls from another nigerian website. When i checked the guys site, i saw that he was publishing my feeds (all of it) as one big post. i am thinking will this be regarded as duplicate content? i dont want my website sandboxed oh.
I’ve been there before. If the guy is not using a free blogging platform, I suggest you find out who’s hosting his site and contact them at once to warn the guy and take down your content from his blog. On the other hand, if your blog is older than his own and you’ve got more backlinks to your site than he does, you really don’t need to stress it s Google is kinda smart enough to know who posted what first.
P.S: I fit ask you be the person? Any URL?
