Atomic Blogging 3: The Newbie’s Guide To Blogging

Posted by Udegbunam Chukwudi On October - 5 Under Reviews 2 COMMENTS

I just went through a copy of Blogging To The Bank 3 by Rob Benwell and one thing stood out. It’s still clearly not newbie friendly. I’ve been blogging for 7 months now and I owe my surviving the beginning stages to Alvin Phang’s Atomic Blogging 2.4 which I got via a Firesale late 2008.

I’m not very good at doing reviews cos when there’s so much to say, I tend to get bored after a while of typing ;) . However I’ll try and highlight the features of Atomic Blogging which makes it newbie friendly.

Disclaimer: I haven’t seen the new edition of Atomic Blogging which is Version 3.0. I’m basically reviewing Version 2.4 which has been upgraded to 3.0 since March 2009.

Unlike Blogging To The Bank 3.0, Alvin Phang doesn’t gloss over most of his steps to creating a great blog which is why the book is 140 pages long. He takes the newbie by the hand and guides him/her with illustrative images.

Below is a quick run through of all you get from this amazing newbie's guide to blogging. He really goes into detail about them all.

  1. Major do’s and don’ts of blogging.
  2. How to choose the perfect domain name and web host after detailed keyword research.
  3. How to install and optimize your wordpress installation with a selection of plug-ins and themes.
  4. Some basic html skills you ought to know of.
  5. How to write and optimize your blog posts for your readers and search engines at the same time.
  6. How to choose the right affiliate products to promote on your site and so on.
  7. Detailed guide to monetizing your site with adsense and making money through product reviews, rendering of services, selling advert slots on your blog etc.
  8. How to generate backlinks and traffic to your blogs via blog commenting, article marketing and forum marketing.

Atomic Blogging 2.4 was a hit with most newbies and I’m almost very certain Atomic Blogging 3.0 will be even better.

Note: Most of what you’ll find in this ebook can be sought free of charge via Google. The only advantage is that it saves you loads of time cos there ain’t one blog that has EVERY single piece of info contained in this guide.

Best of luck with your blogging endeavors and may this be the best $37 you’ve ever spent online!

For The Record: I’m not down with Blogging To The Bank because it contains loads of facts/tips that aren’t actually explained in depth, to the “true newbie to blogging”. It contains good info which I’m afraid will only be understood by folks with a basic understanding of computers and the internet. The very lack of plenty of illustrative images makes it somewhat of boring as you’re practically reading blocks of text and making your imagination work over time.

  1. This sounds like a good product and I appreciate your honesty about your actual opinion regarding the newbie-unfriendliness. On one hand, I think that having a general understanding of computing, the internet, and blogging in general should be a requirement before trying to make money from blogging. So in that sense I think it's okay if a guide is not completely newbie-friendly. On the other hand, if a guide claims to be a Newbie's Guide then it better have all the details for anyone who is not familiar with blogging at all. And in the end, that is probably the type of people purchasing these guides in the first place. If you want to get into blogging but don't know anything about it, $37 isn't that much to pay (in the US, at least) for a good guide that will teach you everything. Thanks for this review, I always like to stay aware of these different blogging/make money online guides. -Mike

    • @Mike: Thanks for an indepth evaluation of this post. I'm TOTALLY on board with you and your opinions. If Blogging To the Bank wasn't been paraded as a book for newbies to blogging, it would have been okay. The price is right in my opinion cos I've seen guides that cost even more and don't even offer half of what Atomic Blogging offers.
