Earlier this evening, I was reading the dailies when I came across news of a victim of yet another "internet dating scam". As fate would have it this time around, it resulted in the death of the victim, a 58 year old lonely divorcee by the name, Philip Hunt.

For some reason (Greed cannot be excluded), people still fall for these scams which reports show are spreading far and wide outside Nigeria which is sometimes claimed to be the source .

I’ve decided to share a few of such scam emails for those of you who might NEVER have come across such emails. Read, digest and stay ALERT!

The control of spammy comments has gotten tedious in recent times with Akismet lacking enough power to deal with the variation of spam comments that crop up each and every blessed day of the year.

Bloggers have seen a gradual rise in human spam comments as bot spam comments are getting too predictable and easily detectable by most anti-spam plug-in.

Not long ago, I made the decision to add another wordpress anti-spam plug-in to ginger up Akismet’s performance and I’m quite happy my choice was Wp-Spam Free.

My Google Adsense account remains inactive till date . I went to the post office 4 days ago, hoping that my Google Adsense PIN has arrived. No luck! It’s been 6 weeks already and this is the second time the PIN is being sent to me. I’m going to wait another week or two and if no luck by then, I shall be contacting the folks @ Google to see if I can use a friend’s address in the UK to get my PIN.

Anyway, in the mean time, I’ve been doing some reading. I can’t believe I’d forgotten how captivating James Hadley Chase novels are. I also picked up Ann Rice’s Queen of the Damned and Feast Of All Saints but had to quit on them. They were way to intellectual for me. It was as though I was reading one of those poems that are so hard to decipher! . I’ll just settle with watching the Film and TV adaptations .

Unlike on Facebook, keeping track of my twitter conversations has never been easy not to talk of tracking my retweets. If you were sending any message my way other than a direct message, you were sure to NEVER receive a reply from me or receive a late reply.

The above happened cos I wasn’t receiving notifications of the messages except for the direct messages of course. Recently I discovered Tweety Mail and life on Twitterland has been much sweeter .

I’m gradually getting bored of sitting home doing nothing apart from working on my laptop. A part of me wishes the NYSC thing should just come so I can join the legion of the employed once again though I would be earning half my previous paycheck all in the name of "serving my country" for one year.

For months I wondered why my blog posts weren’t getting retweeted cos each time, I checked the ReTweeted section of my twitter account, it was always blank.

Well it so happens that my retweet link and buttons weren’t well configured for twitter to track my retweets and so I made the changes that had to be made thanks to the Mashable’s Ben Parr article: HOW TO: Retweet on Twitter.

Few weeks back, Nigerian internet marketer, Ogidi Patrick ("Nigeria’s No. 1 Facebook Wealth Expert") launched what is an IM product he calls Facebook Naira. As always I was skeptical about it because most of the new IM products around now are just rehashed and over hyped IM products.

Unfortunately this one failed to impress me and I stumbled on something fraudulent within.
